Journalist & Food Writer
Barbara Collins worked as a reporter and producer at BBC Northern Ireland in Belfast from 1999-2015. Stories covered included the Madrid train bombings, teenage cosmetic surgery (shortlisted for a Prix Europa) and the discovery of Gerry Evans’ body by the Independent Commission on Victims Remains. She made more than a dozen documentaries for BBC Radio 4 Live and also made packages for BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour and the Food Programme as well as BBC World Service. She is a member of the UK and Irish Guilds of Food Writers. Barbara writes for Food NI/Taste of Ulster. Their guidebooks, which she authors, won a Best of the Best Gourmand World Cookbook Award at Frankfurt in 2015 and a Gourmand award in Yantai, China in the same year.

Barbara is the presenter/producer of The Chef’s Table on Galway Bay FM which so far, has run for two six part series. She regularly contributes as a food writer to BBC Radio Ulster. Her experience and knowledge of the cross-border agri-food industry means she has amassed a vast amount of experience as an InterTrade Ireland Elevate and Digital Sales Consultant.
